​Society Skatepark and Coffee opened near the start of 2018. The Hazard County skatepark outside of Atlanta went out of business and a couple of friends along with key supporters of the local skate community hauled the ramps up here and put them in a building on Scott. It quickly became a grounding point for the skate community. The business side of skateboarding is challenging and the park closed down at the end of 2023. Soon after, Daniel Wallace told his best friend Will Murray about the park being available. They grew up skating together and were struck at how rad the park was. It’s something they couldn’t have imagined as kids. Will had long dreamed of using his talents to do something special of, for, and by Memphis. He saw Society as a home for skaters and a place for young Memphians to showcase and develop their arts. His wife Christina shared in the dream and so they decided to invest all they could in becoming the owners of Society Memphis and make it the coolest place in the land. 

After 18 months of cleaning, fixing, painting, and more, Society Memphis opened and has quickly recognized to be a hub of Memphis energy.
